Clean water. Sustain health. Empower people.

At Sweetwater Outreach, we are committed to working alongside communities in developing nations to create innovative solutions surrounding unsafe water.

We develop sustainable solutions by closely partnering with members of the community to end the life-altering impacts of contaminated drinking water.

Why We Care

1.76 million deaths could be avoided each year by providing access to safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene.

Women and children spend more than 200 million hours each day collecting water.

Every 30 seconds a child dies due to unsafe water, poor sanitation, and hygiene.

Without access to clean and safe water, communities are afflicted by illnesses like Typhoid and chronic stomach problems.  While low income nations often receive aid from the western world, it is not always collaborative or sustainable.

Sweetwater Outreach’s Executive Director, John Blevins, has always been passionate about clean water. After retiring from a 25-year career in engineering and construction, John traveled to Africa for the first time. He tested multiple sources of water and EVERY source tested positive for bacteria. Propelled by his unwavering belief that if you are equipped with the skills to make a difference, you should and inspired by the resilient individuals he met, John returned to the United States and immediately started Sweetwater Outreach, a 501(c)3 nonprofit.

Sweetwater is committed to creating innovative solutions surrounding unsafe water and collaborating with the affected communities to ensure sustainability with every project.
